The Cotton Mill was originally the Maginnis Cotton Mill established in 1882. The building was restored to its current condition in 1997. The renovation preserves the original architecture as well as the historic elements of the building while creating an upscale condominium community. The property is centrally located in the warehouse district near the CBD and the French Quarter. The Cotton Mill covers an entire city block and encompasses a half-acre interior courtyard. There are over 1,200 double hung, cypress windows measuring five by twelve feet. The finished floor planks are made of raised structural wood decking. Unsalvageable wood floors were replaced with new polished concrete flooring, offering a surface typical of warehouse construction, but unique in residential usage, this can also be seen in the first floor, common areas and Lobby area. Additionally, the Cotton Mill offers, twelve to seventeen foot ceilings, trash chutes on each floor along with an extensive smoke detector and sprinkler system.
